MICHELLE OBAMA SAID THAT CHOCOLATE IS BETTER THAN VANILLA ON ‘THE LATE SHOW’
Former first lady Michelle Obama may be busy encouraging kids to eat healthy on her Netflix show Waffles + Mochi, but that doesn’t mean she won’t take a nice dessert to cure her sweet tooth every now and again. If you’ve ever wondered just what her dessert preference was though, she’s now finally revealed the answer. And trust me, you probably feel the exact same way about it.
Appearing on Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show, the author and healthy eating advocate sat safely distanced from host Stephen Colbert as she answered a slew of food-related questions during a “Chews or Lose” segment. After choosing oranges over apples, Stephen then asked her to make a really important decision between cantaloupe and honeydew to which she surprised the host by admitting that she wasn’t a fan of either.
Once the two agreed on their love for watermelon, however, they then moved into what I believe is the most important (and relatable) question of them all: chocolate or vanilla. Now, if you’re all about vanilla, then please look away because just like me (and probably you, too!), Mrs. Obama is totally here for all things chocolate! And honestly, I would have been more surprised if she wasn’t.
“Chocolate all the way!” she exclaimed. “I don’t even understand vanilla. Vanilla is just sort of a disappointing chocolate.”
If her answer to that made you drop your jaw, then knowing that the Chicago-native prefers thin-crust pizza over deep dish will probably send you over the edge. But not to fret! The mother of two reeled things back in when she chose actual dessert over fruit salad.
“You pretend like, ‘Oh, I’m so glad we’re having berries’ when you’re really thinking ‘Where’s the pie?'”
I feel you auntie; I feel you.
